The new feature allows users to post content that automatically disappears after 24 hours
Twitter has introduced its own form of stories with its new feature Fleets.
Fleets will see Twitter users able to post Tweets that will automatically disappear after 24 hours, like a story on Snapchat or Instagram.
Twitter said that Fleets aims to help people feel more comfortable sharing personal and casual thoughts, opinions, and feelings.
You can Fleet Tweets, photos or videos and customise your Fleets with various background and text options.
It is supposed to encourage users to post content that you may not want to be on the internet forever, but that you also don’t want to leave in your drafts.
However, as it stands, you will not be informed if someone screenshots a Fleet of yours.
A spokesperson for the social media giant said: “Through our tests in Brazil, Italy, India, and South Korea, we learned Fleets helped people feel more comfortable joining the conversation. People with Fleets joined more conversations on Twitter through Fleets as well as Direct Messages.
“These are early findings from our tests and we’re excited to learn more about how Fleets are used by you.
“Fleets will be updated over time with new features, based on your feedback. We know we’re late (and hopefully last) to the disappearing posts format. This format has been around for a while and we’ve realised that it makes sense for Twitter too.”
