Alli could be set to join PSG in January

Paris Saint-Germain are set to make a renewed move to sign Dele Alli from Tottenham in January.

Daniel Levy knocked back an approach from the Champions League finalists in the summer, but Alli’s limited playing time under Jose Mourinho this season has seen uncertainty grow around his future at Spurs.

After remaining on the bench for the entirety of his club’s Europa League group game against Royal Antwerp on Thursday, the BBC now report PSG will make a loan offer for the 24-year-old when the transfer window reopens in the new year.

Jose Mourinho has not selected Alli in a Premier League matchday squad since the club’s 6-1 hammering of Manchester United at the start of October, and it now seems near certain he will leave the club – at least on a temporary basis – when he has the opportunity to  do so.

The BBC report that the England international is extremely frustrated at his lack of playing time and will be eager to move on so as to not jeopardise his chances of making Gareth Southgate’s squad for the rescheduled European Championships in the summer.

PSG, meanwhile, have progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League as group winners after their win over Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday. The game should have been completed on Tuesday but was postponed after the teams left the field in protest at an alleged racist comment from a match official.

The addition of Alli would bolster their ranks ahead of a push to go one better in the Champions League than they did last year, where they lost to Bayern Munich in the final.
