Liverpool fans complain at timing of half-time whistle in Man Utd draw

Some felt Sadio Mane was through on goal as the whistle blew

All the hype, all the buildup, and in the end, Liverpool and Manchester United played out a goalless draw at Anfield on Sunday.

Clear-cut chances were few and far between in a game that, despite a lack of goals, still made for an entertaining watch.

United remain on top of the Premier League after it, though things might have been different referee Paul Tierney waited a matter of seconds before blowing the half-time seconds.

As was noted by several Liverpool supporters, Sky Sports’ coverage of the game showed six seconds of the additional minute were still to be played when the half-time whistle blew.

At that precise moment, a ball had been lofted into space behind United’s defence, with Sadio Mane in a good position to take maximum advantage.

Many Liverpool fans complained about the timing of the whistle, with Jordan Henderson admitting after the game that the decision had frustrated Jurgen Klopp’s men.
