Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has distanced himself from comparisons with United legend Paul Scholes, describing him as a one-off.
After a topsy turvy first season at Old Trafford, the Spaniard has established himself in Louis van Gaal’s first team and with seven goals this season, he offers a goal threat that has been missing from the Red Devils’ midfield in recent years.
United have arguably been missing goals from midfield since Paul Scholes’ peak years, but Herrera was quick to dismiss comparisons with the former England international when it was brought up by a fan on his Facebook page yesterday.
Really enjoyed meeting some great fans today at #MUdreamday organised by the wonderful Manchester United Foundation

Herrera, of course, is right to shy away from comparisons with Scholes so early in his Manchester United career.
If fans are still making the link by the time he’s ready to leave Old Trafford, however, then he’ll have done alright.
