After so long, Rangers fans couldn’t resist
Rangers are on the brink of ending their decade-long wait to be champions of Scotland once again.
A 3-0 win over St Mirren at Ibrox on Saturday saw Steven Gerrard’s side needing just one more point to confirm their status as champions.
Old Firm rivals Celtic, who trailed Rangers by 21 points after Saturday’s win, needed to avoid dropping points in their game at Dundee United on Sunday to prolong Rangers’s wait.
With the game underway at Tannadice, a plane was spotted in the skies above the stadium, towing along a banner with a message from Rangers’ supporters.
“Can you see us now?! #55titles,” the banner read.
Rangers inevitable triumph ends any faint flicker of hope Celtic might miraculously complete a tenth consecutive league title, ahead of the Old Firm, which takes place at Celtic Park on March 21.
This, we can safely say, is one of many opportunities Rangers will take to poke fun of their rivals in the weeks and months to come.
