For those who need reminding you’re not above anyone
A woman finally retired from her job that she held for 35 years after she finally got fed up of her ‘awful’ manager. She worked as a cleaner at several banks but her relationship with the manager of one particular HSBC branch had never been great.
Finally, after one last final straw, the woman (who wishes to remain anonymous) decided she’d had enough and walked out. As well as leaving cleaning supplies for the next person, she left this note directed at one person specifically:
And this is why I love my mum. She’s been cleaning banks for 35 years and today walked out with this lovely note left for that awful manager. Happy retirement Mum – always have the last laugh eh! 💚☺️ #Tada pic.twitter.com/u8G73MTPMA

Now tell us that isn’t powerful? As you can see, the note was posted to Twitter by her son, who clearly expresses his admiration for the expertly executed exit. Unsurprisingly, the tweet went viral all over social media and people all over are taking heed of her much-needed reminder.
As well as pointing out that the manager’s public dressing down was nothing more than “a reflection on your character not mine”, it is the last two lines that pack the biggest punch:
In a world where you can be anything, BE KIND.
Because you are all no better than the cleaner
If that doesn’t resonate with you and make you think on the way you treat people, maybe you’re part of the problem. We expect you’re all legends if you’ve found yourself on to our site to begin with, but the profound message that this note puts across is a worthy reminder anyway.
It doesn’t take much effort at all to treat each other with the same amount of basic human decency. It’s not just a case of treat people the way you want to be treated, it’s about having the self-awareness to bring yourself back down to earth when you need it and paying people the respect they deserve.
