Toni Rudiger reveals Daniel Amartey ‘disrespect’ fuelled Chelsea players against Leicester

“Some people in the Leicester team don’t know how to celebrate and we had to punish them.”

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has revealed that a clip of Leicester players celebrating after their FA Cup final triumph fired-up his side ahead of their crunch match against the Foxes on Tuesday evening.

A clip emerged online following Leicester’s 1-0 victory over the Blues at Wembley, in which defender Daniel Amartey throws Chelsea’s FA Cup final pennant on the ground in the Leicester changing room.

And Rudiger has admitted that this clip provided extra motivation for Chelsea ahead of their crucial match against the same opponents on Tuesday, which Chelsea won 2-1.

The Mail reports that the German defender told Chelsea TV: “Unfortunately some people in the Leicester team don’t know how to celebrate and we had to punish them, 100 percent.

“Some of them gave us a bit more motivation after Saturday. Congratulations to them for winning, celebrate and everything, but don’t disrespect club history. This is a bit bigger than you.”

It seems that after Leicester’s historic triumph at the weekend, Amartey got a bit carried away in the changing room, with it all caught on teammate Wesley Fofana’s Instagram.

Fofana filmed Amartey chucking Chelsea’s pennant from the final over his head and onto the floor, causing Fofana to burst into laughter.

And you could tell that there was some needle in the league match, with a full-scale brawl breaking out between the two sides in the final minutes.

After Ricardo Pereira caught Ben Chilwell with a late challenger, Rudiger squared up to the Leicester fullback, with the fracas evolving into a much bigger altercation that involved both benches. Amartey was heavily involved in the incident and ended up being booked, despite the fact that he wasn’t even on the pitch. The Ghanaian was an unused substitute in the match.
