Greenwood will not be available for England this summer
Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood will play no part at Euro 2020 having withdrawn from England’s provisional squad for the tournament in order to fully recover from an underlying injury.
A statement from his club said that the 19-year-old’s playing time has had to be carefully managed throughout the 2020/21 season so as not to exacerbate the problem.
Instead of joining up with Gareth Southgate’s squad – assuming he would have made Tuesday’s cut – Greenwood will remain at United in order to recuperate and prepare for his club’s pre-season schedule.

The statement also explains that the same issue prevented Greenwood from taking part in the Under-21 European Championships in March.
Greenwood made over 50 appearances for United throughout the season, managing 12 goals. He finished the season strongly, averaging more than a goal every two appearance in his last 14 outings.
Gareth Southgate is due to trim his provisional squad to 26 on Tuesday, with the Three Lions due to kick off their campaign on Sunday June 13 against Croatia.
