Arsenal fans are once again waiting on Theo Walcott to return to fitness.
The England international finally established himself as the Gunners’ number one striker last May and he carried over that good form into the new season.
But before Arsenal fans could get too carried away with themselves, Walcott went down with yet another injury after replacing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in Arsenal’s embarrassing 3-0 Capital One Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in October.
Since then, Olivier Giroud has had a chance to win back the starting job as Arsenal’s main man. And while the Frenchman has found the net in two of his three league appearances since, Arsenal’s season appears to have hit a bit of a wall.
While Walcott isn’t the only absentee for the Gunners, this stat does show how important he is for the cohesion of the team:
Arsenal's win percentage this season with Theo Walcott starting (all comps) is 78%. With Olivier Giroud starting, the win % is 36%.
