Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer is convinced that Jurgen Klopp could one day succeed Pep Guardiola in the Bayern hot seat.
Der Kaiser was frank about the departing Borussia Dortmund manager’s chances of eventually replacing Guardiola at the Allianz Arena.
He even went as far as admitting that the hipster’s favourite was a serious consideration whilst Beckenbauer was still at the helm at the Bavarian club.
“Of course I could imagine Klopp as Guardiola’s successor. When I was president, we often talked about Klopp and believe he would fit very well at Bayern,” said Beckenbauer.
But the 69-year-old clarified his comments by stressing that he hopes the current incumbent is going nowhere fast:
“Klopp is definitely an option at Bayern. The question is, how long Guardiola will be in Munich. I hope for a long time, but Klopp would be considered.”
“I can’t imagine that Guardiola would leave in 2016. He likes Munich. He has had success with the team and he knows that he can succeed in the future. He has everything he wants.”
