Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly pushing to convince Antonio Conte to take over as manager after announcing that they had sacked Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday morning.
Nuno was relieved of his duties after just four months in charge following Spurs’ 3-0 home loss to Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.
Spurs failed to register a shot on target in a home league game for the first time since 2013 as United cruised to a much needed win after their own humiliation at the hands of Liverpool the weekend before.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are now hoping to bring Conte to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, after failing to recruit the Italian in the summer, and the former Chelsea boss is ready to accept their offer.
Conte last managed at Inter Milan, where he won the club’s first league title in a decade, but left after two years following a fall-out with the club’s board.
The Italian has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, but after the weekend’s result, the Red Devils look likely to stick with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the time being at least.

Romano reports that sporting director Fabio Paratici is working on bringing Conte in as a priority, while other names linked with the job include former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca and Brighton manager Graham Potter.
