If you’re still reeling from the fact that they’ll be no more Gary Neville on Monday Night Football, imagine how Sky Sports feel.
The former Man United right-back has won the nation over – and many needed winning – through his insightful football analysis and impartial views since joining the Sky team. But now he must depart for a fresh challenge…
Long but exciting day that one. Thank you for all your messages. Thank you to @valenciacf for the opportunity .

He must relinquish his various gigs in order to focus on his first head coach managerial appointment. That means no more huge touchscreen fingering – and no more Jamie Carragher.
It’s fair to say Neville and his ex-Liverpool colleague have always had a begrudging respect for each other. That respect clearly turned into very begrudging fondness over time.
After thanking the likes of Sky, the Daily Telegraph and the FA for allowing him to alter/scrap current obligations to take the Valencia hotseat…
Finally thank you to @SkyFootball @FA @TeleFootball for allowing me to go.

…Neville had a final thank you for the Monday Night Football team, host Ed Chamberlin, and even his squeaky Scouse ‘friend’ Jamie. Although he couldn’t quite manage straight-forward praise…
This is final-thank you to @SkySportsMNF and the team. Special mention to @skysports_ed who is brilliant and @Carra23 who's actually alright

But rest assured – a Manc calling a Scouser ‘actually alright’ is just about the highest praise they can ever hope to receive, so it clearly came from the heart.
