“It’s easy to say the manager, the staff, sometimes it’s the players.”
David de Gea has insisted that the Manchester United players should take the blame following their 4-1 defeat against Watford on Saturday.
United were crushed at Vicarage Road after goals from Joshua King, Ismaila Sarr, Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis condemned the Red Devils to another disappointing afternoon.
Harry Maguire was also sent off for a clumsy challenge to pile on the misery, with the result leaving Solskjaer in an extremely precarious position.
However, de Gea – who saved saved United’s blushes twice in quick succession as he saved two penalties – has admitted that the Red Devils players need to take responsibility for the humiliating defeat.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the Spaniard said: “It was embarrassing to be honest, to see Manchester United play like we did today is not acceptable.
“Of course it’s easy to say the manager or the staff, but sometimes it’s the players, we’re professional players playing for Manchester United, we have to show more.
“We could’ve conceded four goals in 45 minutes, it was hard to watch the team playing like we did today.
“I think it’s nightmare after nightmare, again, for a long time, so that’s not acceptable.”
The 31-year-old also apologised to the United fans, suggesting that their current performances are ‘low level and very poor’.
“I think the players are trying to give our best, to fight for the team, but for sure something is wrong,” he added.
“It’s very wrong, you can see that in the games, what we’re doing is low level and very poor.
“I have to say sorry to the fans once again.”
Following the disappointing result and underwhelming performance, de Gea stated that the United players ‘have to show more’ than they did against Watford.
He said: “I’ve been in difficult moments throughout my career and I always believe in myself, we are professionals players and sometimes there are difficult moments, we have to be strong in the mind and strong in the body.
“This is why we’re playing, to be playing for Manchester United and we have to show more than we did today.”
Man Utd have now lost five of their opening 12 Premier League fixtures.
