“Future manager? Definitely. He’s a leader of men”
Former Chelsea assistant manager Jody Morris believes Thiago Silva has all the correct attributes to become a manager after his playing career.
Silva has been revolutionary at the back for Thomas Tuchel’s side, who currently sit top of the Premier League and are playing some of the best football in Europe at present.
The 37-year-old is the heart of the back three alongside Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen and still looks like he is in his prime.
It was former manager Frank Lampard who brought the Brazilian to the club on a free transfer last season and Morris, who worked alongside Lampard for five months before both were sacked in January, revealed that Silva would often speak to his former Blues boss about his performances.
In an interview with the Times, Morris said: “I was always a fan of Thiago Silva. The way he reads the game, how intuitive he was.
“So he couldn’t speak good English but the amount of meetings that he’d want to have with Frank discussing how we played.
“Even before he’d played a game, I remember we were coming back from a game and Thiago was on the phone wanting to discuss the game with the manager.”
The 42-year-old then went on to compare him to Chelsea legend, John Terry for the way he plays and commands himself.
He said: “He reminds me of JT [John Terry].
“I’d think I don’t want to bring that ball down and play, little bit risky, just clear it but JT would bring the ball down, cushioned header, right foot, left foot, play through the lines. Thiago’s just the same.
When asked if Silva could cut it at management level and without hesitation, Morris wasn’t hesitant in his response.
“Future manager?
“Definitely.
“He’s a leader of men”
