Well you’ve got to admire his confidence if nothing else.
Louis van Gaal is under increasing pressure at Man United. The honeymoon period is well and truly over, as fans become disillusioned by a lack of goals and attacking intent.
But few can doubt that the man has charisma, and a very colourful personality. He also seems more than happy to sign autographs and chat with members of his Red and White Army.
The Dutchman was in good form on Saturday, despite United’s drab 0-0 home draw with West Ham, and looked positively chipper when mixing with the supporters outside Old Trafford.
Although he was perhaps somewhat taken by the spirit of the festive period when he made a bold prediction about his team’s misfiring season. “We shall improve, and at the end, we are the champions! Bye!” he exclaimed with a goofy smile…

He also delivered something of an apology/greeting for a foreign supporters’ club. Something about dominating possession and that being the most important thing (!)…Â
LVG seems so wasted in this.. ?? he reminds me of Borat. pic.twitter.com/qd8gcgJBuR — Feroze Ali (@feroze17) December 8, 2015
Alas, if only Man United were this entertaining on the pitch…
