Jewish wrestler hits back at claims his success is due to white privilege

Daniel Brown

MJF quickly fired back at the claims

Jewish wrestler Maxwell Jacob Friedman has called out a ‘fan’ on Twitter who said he was only successful in the sport because he is a “White Man”.

The American – who is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) – was born into a Jewish family in the New York City suburb of Plainview.

Friedman’s character has been described by the New York Times as “part heel, part tool and part goodfella wannabe”.

He is often found insulting fans and other non-professional wrestling celebrities on social media in character.

On Saturday, ‘MJF’ was accused of only being successful for being a white man in a now-deleted tweet.

The 25-year-old was unsurprisingly angered by the post, replying: “You think antisemites and klansman who attack Jews and vandalize our places of worship daily consider me to be a normal guy? You think 6 million+ of my people who were viciously murdered were considered privileged? Sorry, it’s not cool to talk about me being a minority.”

He added: “Sorry I don’t fit your category of making my company diverse.”

Despite receiving support from fans for standing up to the offensive remarks, MJF quickly returned to ‘character’ and turned on them as well, writing: “I don’t need your likes, you fucking marks.”

The wrestler is currently embroiled in a back-and-fourth saga with WWE legend CM Punk, with the two trading insults for a number of weeks.

With the pair both setting their sights on Hangman Adam Page’s AEW World Championship, it promises to be an interesting few weeks for AEW fans.
