Nike say they are ‘deeply concerned’
Nike have released a statement saying they are “deeply concerned” after allegations that Mason Greenwood physically a young woman were revealed on Sunday.
The woman posted a series of Instagram stories and audio recordings which featured graphic images, accompanied by the caption: “To everyone who wants to know what Mason Greenwood actually does to me.”
She later deleted the stories, however Manchester United issued a statement earlier saying that they would make no comment until the “facts have been established,” and that “Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”
Greater Manchester Police also confirmed that they are making enquiries into the allegations. They said: “Greater Manchester Police is aware of images and videos circulating on social media. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
Nike – who sponsor Greenwood – have now also come out and told The Athletic that “We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation.”
Mason Greenwood has yet to respond to the allegations himself.
