‘She was as insightful and perspicacious as ever, very interested in what’s going on’
Many believe that during the Queen’s meeting with the Canadian Prime Minister she was subtly paying tribute to the people of Ukraine.
Amid the continued shelling of Ukraine – an event that has left people forced to hide in bomb shelters or flee their country – eagle-eyed Royal fans have spotted what they believe to be a sign of solidarity.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at Windsor Castle on Monday, the Queen made her first public appearance since catching covid last month. As Lizzie and Trudeau were photographed, a vase of flowers in the Ukrainian flag colours can be seen directly behind them.
The flowers behind the Queen today as she met @JustinTrudeau just happened to be of a blue and yellow colour…

Sources told the Mirror that the flowers were a deliberate gesture and later that day, Trudeau confirmed he had spoken about Ukraine with The Queen.
He explained: “I can tell you in my conversation with her this morning she was as insightful and perspicacious as ever, very interested in what’s going on.”
Of course, the Queen has made a “generous donation” to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine appeal but as a person respected worldwide – is that enough?
Two weeks into the biggest war in Europe since 1945 and Britain’s head of state says nothing. But sure, flowers. #Ukraine️ https://t.co/baCuAiFCqT

Such sentiments have not been missed online, with one person writing: “Two weeks into the biggest war in Europe since 1945 and Britain’s head of state says nothing. But sure, flowers.”
“That’ll show putin,” another wrote.

While the Queen is providing her support through riddle-like statements, other members of her family have extended public support.
Last Wednesday, Prince Charles praised the “extraordinary bravery and fortitude” of the Ukrainian people in the face of “truly terrible aggression” from Russia.
William and Kate also released a personal statement that read: “In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future.
“Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future.”
