Simeone often sprints down the tunnel after games
Diego Simeone was struck by bottles as he ran down the tunnel at Old Trafford after Atletico Madrid knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The first-leg of the tie ended as a 1-1 draw at the Metropolitano Stadium, with youngster Anthony Elanga scoring late to salvage a draw for the Red Devils after João Félix had opened the scoring.
However, the second-leg tie saw the reigning LaLiga champions secure a 2-1 aggregate victory over the Red Devils, with Renan Lodi’s first-half goal enough to send Atletico into the next round.
As the referee blew for full-time, Atletico manager Simeone, as he often does, sprinted down the touchline and headed for the dressing room.

The Argentine is known for not shaking hands with his opposition manager at the end of a match and regularly heads for the tunnel as soon as the whistle is blown.
However, as the 51-year-old was running towards the Old Trafford tunnel, he was hit by water bottles which had been launched onto the pitch by United supporters.
The away side’s goal was somewhat controversial, the the Red Devils feeling that Elanga had been fouled in the build-up to Lodi’s header.
The defeat means that it has now been five seasons without a trophy for United, with the last honours coming in the 2016/17 campaign when the club won the Europa League and the League Cup.
