Javier Hernandez may well have been told that he wasn’t needed by Louis van Gaal, but many Manchester United supporters were sorry to see him leave.

The Mexican may yet to return to Old Trafford in the new year… but could be wearing an Arsenal shirt.

Arsene Wenger told reporters on Friday, that he would be engaging in transfer activities during the January window.

The Gunners are vying for their first Premier League title in 12 years and have Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Arsenal have done all that while coping with a hefty injury list, which has accounted for the likes of Danny Welbeck, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Francis Coquelin and Alexis Sanchez, to name but four.

Olivier Giroud has been asked to take up the scoring bulk after the Theo Walcott experiment, leading the line, was shelved.

Although Hernandez would be cup tied for the Champions League, Don Balon, a noted football outlet in Spain, believe that Arsenal could well move for him.

The 26-year-old’s form since his £7.3m switch from United has been impressive.

He started the season slowly but has been unstoppable since October – scoring 16 times in his last 13 games.
