When it comes to the Manchester United manager’s job, it looks like a case of whether Louis van Gaal stays or Jose Mourinho replaces him.
One name that has not been mentioned is Lucas Alcaraz, and on the surface that doesn’t seem all that strange.
Alcaraz has been out of work since leaving Levante in October, ironically following a defeat to a Real Sociedad side then managed by former United boss David Moyes.
But the 49-year-old has got people talking after following a number of Manchester United Twitter accounts – not official club ones either, big fan accounts including that of fanzine Red Issue.
I know, it means nowt. But how weird is it that this is who Levante manager Lucas Alcaraz has recently followed pic.twitter.com/s7u6k09btn

So, here are a few reasons why he might have done it:
- He has emerged as a shock target to replace Louis van Gaal
- He’s being lined up for a non-managerial role at the club
- He’s a United supporter
- He just loves the red hot content offered up by some of the fans
- It was an accident, like Nick Powell favouriting that tweet
The plot thickens.
