Real Madrid won’t take no for an answer as they plot another world-record bid for David de Gea

Real Madrid may have missed out on David de Gea in farcical circumstances back in the summer, but they are reportedly preparing another huge offer for the Manchester United keeper.

Although De Gea signed a new contract at Old Trafford following the collapse of his transfer, it’s thought that he is still keen to return to Spain as Real plot a £40m bid.

That fee would eclipse the previous record paid for a keeper when Juventus signed Gianluigi Buffon for £32m in 2001, but Florentino Perez is certain De Gea is worth it.

According to the Daily Star, Real will remain patient during the January transfer window, but hope to secure a deal for the start of the summer to avoid a repeat of September’s calamity.

A fee of just under £30m had been agreed on transfer deadline day, but United and Real somehow botched the contract exchange leaving De Gea stuck at Old Trafford.
