Manchester United given Gareth Bale hope following Rafa Benitez’s sacking

Yet again, Manchester United have been linked with a move for Gareth Bale.

This time, the departure of Rafa Benitez from Real Madrid is claimed to have encouraged United to splash the cash on the Welshman, according to The Daily Mirror.

Ignoring the fact that Benitez’s successor Zinedine Zidane has publicly stated that Bale will not be leaving the Spanish capital, it’s claimed that the player is disappointed by the former Liverpool boss’s swift departure from the club – and could eventually follow him out of the door.

Bale, whose goal against Valencia on Sunday evening proved to be the last of Benitez’s tenure, has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and would provide United with some much needed pace when going forward.

Ed Woodward is said to be keen to spend big on Bale, with a fee of £75m mentioned. Although pulling off such a transfer might seem a little ambitious, it’s also claimed that United will wait until summer before they try and make a move.
