Cringeworthy in the extreme or just a good laugh?
Man United and Liverpool fans have a proud tradition of goading each other with creative flags and banners, and Sunday’s game between the two wasn’t ever going to be any different.
But one banner in particular seems to have many Mancs and Scousers united for once – they both find it incredibly embarrassing.
Made by United fans to poke fun at their local rivals, the large sign incorporates that most modern of phenomenons – the emoji.
As you can see, there’s a number 20 (signifying United’s record 20 titles compared to Liverpool’s 18) followed by a ‘thumbs up’, and a cry-laughing smiley below ’26 years’, referring to Liverpool’s last league title in 1990…

But it seems few are impressed by the banterous banner…

That emoji banner has caused uproar on Twitter. Not sure who hates it most, United or Liverpool fans.
