Usain Bolt says he couldn’t play under Louis van Gaal

Kevin Beirne

Manchester United fans must be used to missing out on big-name signings as of late.

From Cristiano Ronaldo’s supposed return to Old Trafford to a shock move for Brazilian superstar Neymar, United are hoping to lure a marquee name sooner rather than later.

But one man who won’t be joining their ranks is the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt. At least not until Louis van Gaal leaves.

Bolt is a long-time United fan and has made no secret of his desire to pull on the famous red jersey, but when quizzed about the issue at the Jamaican Sportsman of the Year awards, the sprinter said:

“Well, looking at how Van Gaal is, I don’t think I would ever want to be coached by him so I think I will put that on pause until we get a new coach.”

It’s hardly a surprise that the speedy Bolt has no desire to play in a team whose play is as slow as Van Gaal’s, but you have to imagine he’d jump at the chance if they ever actually came calling.
