The premise of My Parents are Aliens is all in the name really.
The show followed the trials and tribulations of three orphaned children, Mel, Josh and Lucy Barker, and their new foster parents Brian and Sophie Johnson.
The children soon discover that the Johnsons are in fact aliens from the planet Valux, who crash-landed on Earth when Brian tampered with the controls of their spaceship.
You know, just your classic kids’ show kind of nonsense that we spent far too much of our childhoods watching.
In case you’d forgotten, the comic lead and middle child Josh Barker was played by Alex Kew, who looked like this at the time of filming:
Since the show’s finale, he played a few other parts, appearing in The Bill as Oliver Sinclair (Ollie) and in the pilot episode of BBC Three comedy Coming of Age. He also played Simon Cosgrove in the film About a Boy.
But you might not recognise him if you saw him walking down the street, even if you were a die-hard My Parents Are Aliens fan (which, based on the amount of nonsense we’ve seen online, probably exist somewhere).
Nowadays, Kew is a musician and he looks a bit different….

We’d never have guessed it was him unless someone told us.
