Louis van Gaal will not go gently into the night.

And the manager hadn’t calmed down by the time he arrived in the post-match press conference, where he vented his frustration at constant questions about Jose Mourinho.
“Why do the club have to deny when you’re inventing stories?” Van Gaal asked one reporter. “I can say you are getting the sack tomorrow. What about your wife? Your children?”

Van Gaal also hit out at criticism of his perceived tedious tactics, reminding the journalists in attendance that former United manager Alex Ferguson struggled in his early years.
“It was not a boring match. For the third time in a row, it was sparkling. So I hope to get the support of the media this week.
“You write what you like. Maybe you remember the [difficult] first years of Fergie. You have to study the stats.”
