Louis van Gaal could hand two more Manchester United youngsters their debuts at Sunderland

For all the complaints about Louis van Gaal’s style this season, he has at least been good at bringing through young talents at Manchester United.

The likes of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Guillermo Varela have made their debuts this season, while Van Gaal oversaw the development of players such as Paddy McNair and Jesse Lingard last season.

And now two more youngsters have their chance to make a first team bow against Sunderland in the Premier League, with Donald Love and James Weir taking their places on the bench.

Love, a Scottish under-21 defender, made his professional debut during a loan spell at Wigan earlier this season and has only just been handed a Man United squad number.

Preston-born midfielder Weir, who joined the club from Preston North End as a teenager, has come up through United’s under-18 and under-21 ranks.

Will Keane, who scored a wonder-goal for the under-21s during the week, is also named among the substitutes.
