Twitter fumes at Martin Atkinson as Arsenal seal crucial victory

Result aside, Martin Atkinson was at the centre of plenty of the action as Leicester City faced Arsenal.

Having awarded Jamie Vardy the penalty which put Leicester in front before half-time, plenty of Arsenal supporters were furious.

Some felt their team should have been given a free-kick before Vardy won the spot-kick. Others (somehow) doubted whether Nacho Monreal’s challenge on the Leicester striker was even worthy of a penalty.

Leicester’s hopes of maintaining their lead were dented when Danny Simpson picked up his second yellow card.

Although his second foul was deemed needless by some, it appeared that a second yellow was slightly harsh.

And with 20 minutes to go, Arsenal found an equaliser through Theo Walcott. But not everyone was happy that the England international had potentially ruined Leicester’s fairytale march towards a Premier League triumph.

Whereas many Arsenal fans had been furious with Martin Atkinson at half time, it now seemed plenty more were annoyed at him for giving the home side a numerical advantage against the visitors.
