‘If music be the food of love, play on’ old Bill Shakespeare once said.
The cheeky devil wasn’t wrong either. New research suggests that it’s one key factor that makes couples want to have more sex.
The research (which was conducted by speaker systems company Sonos) said that people who play music loud in their own home have more veracious sex lives.
It surveyed 30,000 people in eight countries, including USA, Canada and Britain, about their music listening habits and personal relationships at home.
Sonos, which collected data from motion-activated cameras, iBeacon, iPhones and Apple Watches, then observed what happened when people cranked up the tunes.
It found that people who listened to music out loud with their partners had 67% more sex than those who listened least.
Not only that but the music-listeners spent an extra three hours and 13 minutes with their partner on average per week.
Respondents who were rocking out with the radio on reported being in a better mood, expressing more love, feeling more inspired – and even laughing more after they began playing music.
More than 80% of participants felt that doing jobs around the house was easier while listening to music, and exactly half reported enjoying cooking more while banging out some tunes.
It didn’t mention anything about angry neighbours coming around at midnight to tell people to turn down the Marvin Gaye though.
