The Germans romped to a 5-0 victory thanks to goals from Victor Boniface, Granit Xhaka and Florian Wirzt to secure their first ever title.
Xabi Alonso’s side went ahead in the first half as Boniface calmly dispatched a penalty at the BayArena. Their lead was doubled through ex-Arsenal man Xhaka on the hour mark to start the party in North-West Germany. Wirtz added a third just eight minutes later, before securing a fourth on 83 minutes. The youngster was not done there; he fired home for his hat-trick in stoppage time.
Alonso’s side are Champions with five remaining fixtures to play.
Before today, Bayern Munich dominated the German domestic scene, winning the last 11 titles.

Alonso was linked heavily with the soon-to-be vacant Liverpool job. However, interest has cooled, Alonso said: “There were many reasons [for deciding to stay]
“After one year, we’re building a team, we’re building a great spirit here.
“There were many reasons and so many players. The season has been great so far, and for sure we want to keep having this thing together.
“I felt part of it. After one year, it didn’t feel like the right timing, and that’s why I’m committed.”

On the European front, they lead West Ham United by two goals after the UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg. The Hammers will welcome Alonso’s side to the London Stadium this Thursday evening.
Die Schwarzroten’s squad sport an average age of under 25, with standout Wirtz still just 20 years old, vital to the success. As ever with German clubs, supporters will be hoping to retain their talent, with Bayern Munich looking to re-build this summer.
