Wayne Rooney’s Manchester United career might finally be about to come to an end this summer.
The England captain is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering ligament damage to his knee, but reports coming out of Manchester suggest the 30-year-old’s time at Old Trafford could be up.
The Red Devils are thought to be considering a bid for the striker from a Chinese Super League club, where Rooney could earn a frankly ridiculous £500,000-a-week.
The Manchester Evening News are reporting that if the Manchester club could secure a marque signing such as Gareth Bale or Neymar, then they could be willing to let Rooney most to the Far East.
During a recent conference call, United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward told investors, “If nothing else, it [Chinese Super League]’s another useful market if we’re looking to sell any players.”
