Not the ideal start to the day
Sky Sports were affected on Friday morning by a global technology issue, as confirmed by the broadcaster.
Taking to X, they wrote an official statement:
“Due to a global technical issue, Sky Sports News is currently unable to broadcast live.
“For all the latest sports news, scores and action, go to the Sky Sports app or website.”
In terms of a solution to the issue, Sky Sports News aired a previous broadcast with footage of presenter David Garrido discussing newspaper backpages alongside journalists.
Golf and cricket coverage however remained unaffected.
It has been reported that the issue arose due to a faulty anti-viral update in which US cyber security company CrowdStrike have admitted responsibility for.
Employee Matt Kabir Floyd addressed the matter, explaining the problems Sky were hit with due to technology problems in relation to Microsoft.
He stated: “Sky Sports News also affected by this global Microsoft situation…nothing really working..not sure when or if we’ll come on air…thank god I woke up at 3.30.”
