Paris Saint-Germain’s Twitter account has got even weirder ahead of Chelsea clash

Simon Lloyd

This week’s European meeting with Chelsea is far from Paris Saint-Germain’s first in recent years.

With that in mind, you’d think the folk running the club’s Twitter accounts would have learned to control their excitement by now.

Ahead of hosting Chelsea in their Champions League last 16 first leg clash a few weeks back, PSG’s accounts treated followers to a string of bizarre tweets.

And a matter of hours before the return fixture at Stamford Bridge, the French Champions are at it again.

Having adopted the hashtag #PSGBlockbuster, a Hollywood theme has been used for a series of tweets in the build-up to the match in London.

While their English account chose to stick to editing film posters such as the one seen below, their main account (@PSG_inside) went a little further…

In keeping with the ‘Blockbuster’ theme, a few videos have been created – featuring a blend of footage from recent meetings between the two clubs and clips of some well-known films. Once again, it’s all a little bit strange.

First up, Zlatan features in a Terminator mash-up…

… and appears again in this Star Wars tweet.

Next up, Edinson Cavani’s first leg goal is merged with the Hunger Games…

Before Marco Verratti getting his toe to a loose Eden Hazard pass is linked to Divergent.

We can at least see what they were trying to do with this one, featuring goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.

But it’s safe to say that Toy Story 3 probably wouldn’t be the first thing we think of when we see footage of Thiago Silva scoring a towering header.

If Chelsea are defeated by PSG, we can hopefully look forward to more of the same ahead of the quarter finals.
