It’s no wonder a lot of Manchester United fans have lost faith in Louis van Gaal.
Two poor results in a row and the mood from Red Devils supporters has gone from being, “maybe top four is a possibility” to “oh balls, what the hell happened?”
United lost 1-0 to West Brom last weekend, which was followed up by a 2-0 away defeat to Liverpool in the first leg of their Europa League tie on Thursday. Sundays’ task – an FA Cup quarter final clash against West Ham – could lead to even more frustration.
While the FA Cup represents their best chance at a trophy this season, The Times have produced a statistic which won’t leave United fans too confident ahead of the match against the Hammers.
The paper claims that ‘United have managed one or zero shots on target in no fewer than eight of their past 30 Barclays Premier League matches and in six of the past 21.
‘For a club of United’s resources, that is as extraordinary as it is embarrassing. To put that in context, in Ferguson’s final ten seasons in charge, spanning 380 Premier League games, it happened only 15 times, which was no doubt 15 too many for the Scot’s liking.’
Here’s hoping they manage to get at least two shots on target against the Hammers… for the fans’ sake.
