Transfer Gossip: Lloris loss looms large for Spurs

Lloris chasing Champions League action

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will trade White Hart Lane for Old Trafford in pursuit of his Champions League dream.

The Frenchman has been heavily linked with Manchester United as a replacement for David De Gea, and the Sunday Mirror report that he has told Spurs of his desperation to play in Europe’s top club competition.

He has not played Champions League football since leaving Lyon in 2012, and few could blame the 28-year-old for wanting to return to the competition.

De Gea is expected to join Real Madrid this summer, potentially freeing up the funds for United to part with upwards of £20m for Lloris.

Sterling’s Spanish Suggestion

Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling could try his luck on the continent this summer, with Real Madrid looking like the most likely destination amid rumours that Bayern Munich have cooled their interest.

According to the Sunday Express, Madrid face a straight battle with Chelsea for the wantaway winger this summer.

Reports out of Germany suggest a rumoured Bayern Munich deal is now dead in the water, but Sterling still has options if he chooses to continue his career away from Anfield.

Muto Move Moot

Chelsea will not be signing Yoshinori Muto this summer, after the Japanese striker opted for a move to Mainz.

The 22-year-old will join international team-mate Shinji Okazaki at the Bundesliga club, according to the Star on Sunday.

Chelsea may now step up their interest in Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke, though Liverpool are also keen on the Belgian.
