A Fury-Klitschko rematch in the UK appears to be all but confirmed

The ball seems to be very much in Tyson Fury’s court as the world heavyweight champion sets about locking down a date for his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko.

Fury secured an against-all-odds victory when the pair met in Dusseldorf in 2015, and the Manchester fighter is thought to be keen to welcome his Ukrainian opponent to the UK.

Peter Fury, the boxer’s uncle and trainer, has claimed a fight on British soil is the most likely outcome, adding that a deal with Klitschko’s camp is very close.

Indeed, an announcement confirming details of the proposed summer rematch could come as soon as next month.

Tyson Fury Press Conference

“July is looking favourite now and hopefully it will be in the UK,” Peter Fury told Sky Sports.

‘The Klitschkos are happy to come to England provided it makes sense obviously so that is what they are working on and I fully expect an announcement in April.”

While he did not indicate where in the UK the fight might take place, Fury’s camp are believed to be weighing up the possibility of the Manchester Arena as a venue.

It appears other potential destinations, including Ireland and the UAE, have moved towards the back of the queue.
