The chat feature is about to get a whole lot different.
Snapchat have today announced a number of incoming changes that will change the way we use the app.
Although a ‘chat’ feature currently exists within the app, Snapchat wasn’t necessarily the first app one would go to for extended one-to-one communication, but that is something they’re looking to change.
Earlier today, Snapchat released a statement with details about Chat 2.0, which gives users a range of ways to communicate with just one tap.
With the new update, users can communicate with each other in Chat via text, video, audio notes (you can sing to your mates if they can bear it) or by sending stickers, emoji equivalents which have proved popular on other social media apps as well as Snapchat.
“What we love most about the new Chat is how easily you can transition between all these ways of communicating — just like you do in person,” the Snapchat statement reads.
“When that’s possible, you aren’t texting, calling, or video chatting… you’re just talking. We’ve been working on this redesign for a while — we can’t wait to hear what you think!”
Snapchat also revealed the introduction of Auto-Advance Stories; when you finish a Story, the next one begins automatically and you can swipe to skip ahead, or pull down to exit.
They’re also refreshing their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which isn’t quite as interesting, but if you absolutely must, you can read more on that here.
