Attention, Britain: have your clothes been feeling ~unnecessary~ lately?
Atout France, part of the official French tourism board, has created an English language page on its website to cater to Brits who are looking to strip off in the sun, but who don’t want to be arrested in the process.
It also contains a handy questionnaire, which you can take to “assess whether or not naturism is right for you”.
France has a record number of nude-friendly locations, including 155 campsites, 73 villages, and 35 bed and breakfasts which cater for the naked tourist, not to mention 24 local pools with specific spaces for nude swimming and sunbathing.
Interestingly, French laws neither prohibit nor allow nudism in public areas. Like all things French, getting naked on a beach is usually a controlled, civilised affair that is best left to public discretion. Kinda makes Britain seem prudish really…
The page in question reads:
“For the naturist, France offers the chance to enjoy a free lifestyle in any environment you wish. By the sea, in the country, under canvas or staying in accommodation, you’ll have the freedom to choose just how you want to spend your holiday.”
Please remember, people; not all beaches in France are nudist beaches.
