David De Gea isn’t on the PFA Player of the Year shortlist and Man United fans can’t cope

No DDG in PFA

This year’s shortlist for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year marks one of those few occasions where you think ‘fair enough’.

Leicester trio N’Golo Kanté, Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy are all in contention, along with Arsenal’s Mesut Özil, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and West Ham’s Dimitri Payet.

Kane is also in contention for Young Player of the Year, an award won by the Spurs forward last season, along with Dele Alli, Jack Butland, Philippe Coutinho, Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley.

So far, so good, right? Well, not if you’re a Manchester United fan.

United, as is so often the case, would be several points worse off without the input of goalkeeper David De Gea.

So when supporters looked at the list and found no trace of the Spaniard, they promptly lost their collective sh*t.
