Not even FA Cup glory will be enough to save Louis van Gaal from the axe… or at least that’s what was being reported on Sunday morning.
Having seen his side edge past Everton at Wembley on Saturday, the Express claim that the Dutchman will leave his position as Manchester United manager at the end of the season, with Jose Mourinho replacing him.
Of course, we’ve all heard so many Mourinho to Old Trafford stories this season that it started to sound like white noise long ago. This time, however, it’s said that the former Chelsea boss has actually signed a deal with United, fending off reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
The same report also goes as far as claiming that United will confirm Mourinho’s deal in the next two weeks.
The club intended to make the news public after the end of the season, but after it was leaked in Mourinho’s native Portugal on Saturday, United are now set to bring it forward.
Will Mourinho end up hassling referees from the home technical area at Old Trafford next season? Is he the right man to follow Louis van Gaal? Does anyone care any more? Let us know by dropping us a message at our Facebook page or by sending us an email at Hello@JOE.co.uk
