European giants contact Anthony Martial about a move away from Manchester United this summer

PSG need a new talisman.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirmed the worst secret in football on Friday as he announced he would be leaving Paris this summer.

And the cash-rich French champions are already looking out for the next big thing to replace the impressive, and ego-centric, Swede.

The club can look forward to another season of Champions League football, of course, unlike Anthony Martial’s current outfit, who are struggling to make the top four.

The France striker has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in England, but not even his 17 goals have been enough to help Manchester United secure their place in Europe’s top club competition next season as the final game of the season looms.

And according to L’Equipe this morning, Martial has been contacted by the Paris giants about a possible summer move.

The report states that Martial’s entourage, which we can only assume is his agent and family, have had initial contact with PSG about possibly tempting the former Monaco man back to his homeland.

Martial is not even a year in England yet, and a move would seem ridiculous from an Old Trafford point of view as he has been the club’s most outstanding outfield performer.

However, if he impresses at this summer’s European Championships and then has to return to a Champions League-less Old Trafford, his head may be turned.

Any deal would likely see PSG pay almost €50million (£40m) for the striker, with a swap deal with one of more PSG players also mooted by the newspaper.
