The fantasy football title race is going right to the wire

Tom Victor

Many of you will have pinned a lot on your private fantasy league with your mates, but imagine if there was a whole lot more at stake.

That’s what’s happening in the worldwide competition, and it could barely be closer.

Going into the final weekend of the season, the top 10 are separated by less than 50 points, and all are just one big week away from lifting the title.

With a holiday and two VIP football trips at stake, current leader Dimitri Nicolau will hope to hold on to his top spot.

Nicolau still has the opportunity to use his ‘all out attack’ option, which allows him to go with a 2-5-3 formation in the final week, but if he twists and gets things wrong he could give the chasing pack a chance to catch up.

His team for the penultimate weekend included a number of the Premier League’s top performers, but he may need to make at least one change for gameweek 38.

West Ham midfielder Dimitri Payet, who picked up two assists in the 3-2 victory over Manchester United last time out, may miss his team’s trip to Stoke through injury.

The only question is who Nicolau brings in to replace his namesake. It could just be the most important decision of the year.
