Turkish football fans set fire to own stadium after late goal relegates them

I'm a firestarter, twisted firestarter

There is no doubt but Turkish football fans are a breed apart.

They are easily some of the most passionate fans around, and by ‘passionate’, we mean generally unhinged.

The country has witnessed some terrible on-field violence against both players and officials, with security lax at the best of times.

It often seems as if fans think they are a law unto themselves, and once again another violent incident marred the final round of games at the weekend.

Needing a win to stand any chance of staying up, Eskisehirspor were perilously slow to relegation on Friday night when they faced Medipol Basakehir in their own stadium, the Eskisehir Atatürk Stadium.

However, a late goal from Sokol Cikalleshi meant a 2-1 reversal and demotion to the second tier from the Turkish Super Lig

The loss confirmed what fans had feared all season, and well, supporters did not take well to the news, as they thrashed their stadium.

The angry fans destroyed the stadium, safe in the knowledge the club are moving to a new venue next season, but, according to The Metro, the idiots still managed to injure the people in the process.

Imagine all the money West Ham would have saved if they had let their fans do something similar?
