Marcus Rashford wasn’t the only Manchester-based teenager to score for his country tonight

What’s not to like about the Rashford-Iheanacho ‘rivalry’?

Two talented young strikers playing on opposite sides of the same city, both of whom are shaping up to be great goalscorers.

And what’s more, both of them seem to be really enjoying their football.

There’s no ill-feeling between the pair, but we’re sure that won’t stop people introducing a Messi and Ronaldo-style rivalry, especially now that Rashford and Iheanacho will be playing their football under Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola respectively.

And, true to form, just as the net stopped rippling from Rashford’s debut goal for England, Iheanacho was putting away the winning goal for Nigeria against Mali.

When Rashford first got called into the England squad, there were complaints from the blue half of Manchester that Iheanacho should have made the cut. Ignoring, of course, that he already had caps for the Super Eagles.

The 19-year-old now has one goal in three senior appearances for his country, to go along with 14 goals for Manchester City in all competitions.

Rashford is a little way behind with nine strikes for club and country, but Iheanacho does have a year on his United counterpart.
