Fans can’t quite believe that Liverpool have rejected a £25m bid for Christian Benteke

Holding firm

Talk about playing hardball.

Liverpool are refusing to take a £7.5m loss on Christian Benteke.

The Reds paid £32.5m for the Belgian forward less than a year ago and are holding firm on their £30m asking price for the former Aston Villa man.

Crystal Palace formally launched a £25m bid for Benteke on Friday but, according to the Liverpool Echo, that approach has been rebuffed by Liverpool, who refuse to lower their valuation.

Benteke endured an altogether underwhelming debut season with the Reds, scoring 10 goals in 42 appearances all season, and supporters are willing to bite potential bidders’ hands off for a fee of £25m.
