Watch Cristiano Ronaldo and Alex Ferguson embrace after Euro 2016 final

A lovely moment

A lovely moment.

He’s not always everyone’s cup of tea, but there were a lot of people more than happy to see Cristiano Ronaldo lift the European Championships trophy following their extra-time victory over France on Sunday night.

Ronaldo’s contribution to the match itself was limited after he was withdrawn from the fray with an injury in the first half, but he still managed to be the centre of attention as he cajoled and encouraged his teammates from the sidelines until victory was assured.

Included among the many people queuing up to congratulate Ronaldo after the game was his manager at Manchester United, Alex Ferguson, who gave him a big hug as Ronaldo made his way down the steps at the Stade de France after lifting the trophy.
