You can’t blame Manchester United fans for being a bit excited right now.
By their standards, the last three years have been far from vintage, with the club struggling to recover from the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
But with Jose Mourinho now in office, there’s fresh hope that the good times are back on. He’s swiftly added three signings and the news that Paul Pogba might soon be the fourth has thrilled United fans the world over.
On Tuesday, reports in Italy only heightened their excitement when it was suggested United had made a big-money offer to Juventus for the midfielder. Even though the player’s agent has since described the latest reports as “bullshit”, it doesn’t appear to have dampened the belief amongst the United faithful that Pogba could soon be returning to the club he left in 2012.
Some United fans are feverishly hunting for any clues that might indicate the Frenchman is on the brink of a move to Manchester, so when the following tweet, showing Mourinho preparing to jet off on the club’s preseason tour to China, started doing the rounds – they thought they’d struck gold.

In the picture accompanying the tweet, half of a tactics board can be seen through a partly-opened door. On that board, some of the United squad’s names are visible.
The image is a little blurry and the handwriting isn’t the best, but some United supporters still seem to think that Pogba’s name is one of those to have been daubed on the board…

Is that Pogba's name on the board behind Mourinho? The one above Fellaini. pic.twitter.com/mdUYWODbXZ

Let’s stress: we’re far from convinced by this. Perhaps it’s a mirage caused by the scintillating heat of a British summer’s day?
But by all means, feel free to make your own minds up…
