It’s a sequel 20 years in the making, and we’re getting ever closer to the arrival of ‘Trainspotting 2’ to our cinema screens.
Officially titled T2, we’ve already got our first sneak peak at what some of the characters look like in the movie.
Photographer Katielee Arrowsmith managed to take these shots of stars Ewan McGregor (Renton) and Jonny Lee Miller (Sick Boy) on set with director Danny Boyle in Scotland, and shared them on Twitter a few months back.
Now a teaser trailer for the movie has just been released to the Guardian.
The 40 second clip mimics a scene from the first movie, where we see Renton, Sick Boy, Spud (Ewen Bremner) and Begbie (Robert Carlyle) standing on a train platform as a train passes.
It’s not much, but it’s certainly got us even more excited!
Watch the clip below.
We’ve already been told that T2, which is inspired by Irvine Welsh’s novel Porno, will be set 20 years after the events of the original film. Welsh revealed that in an interview with Vice, and also said:
“John [Hodge] has delivered this knockout script, which is absolutely fantastic. It’s based on Porno, but it’s also evolved. We’ve had to evolve past that, because the actors would have been ten years older when Porno came out, and now they’re 20 years older. It has to take into account that reality. It’s very much telling a story about Edinburgh as it currently is.”
He added this message for all of us who might be concerned that a sequel couldn’t possibly live up to the original:
“It’s going to be incredible. It’s a very beautiful, brilliant script – and it needed to be; I don’t think any of us would have wanted to be involved in something that wasn’t going to live up to the first film. That’s the danger with any sequel, but especially this one and after such a long period of time.”
T2 is scheduled to be released here on January 27, 2017.
