It’s the enemy of productivity, but we’re sure how we ever got by without the bottomless treasure trove of entertainment that is Netflix.
We’re big fans of the way the service tries to curate your binge by using its algorithm to recommend shows and movies based on what you’ve watched in the past. Netflix gets you, man.
What your homepage will also do is display a load of categories: sitcoms, British TV, dramas, to name a few. When you click into these some will have a box for sub-genres within that category. That allows you to really hone in on exactly what you’re after.
But for some reason not every category has this feature, so you’re left with an enormous library of content but no way of whittling it down. It’s not going to ruin your night or anything, but it can be a pain.
Luckily, some internet wizard has come up with a (at least temporary) solution. As highlighted by Business Insider, the site Netflixcodes.info‘s ‘secret categories’ will guide you through to every title listed under a specific sub-genre. It’s a pretty rudimentary interface, but works like a dream. We doubt Netflix would be too chuffed to learn that someone is treading on their toes, but at the time of writing the site is fully operational.
So if you’re feeling a Cult Sci-Fi flick on a Friday night, just click on the category and it will redirect you to Netflix’s library of those films. Nifty.
